The Old Deanery Wins Restaurant Of The Year 2008

The judging for the Ripon Internet "Restaurant of the Year 2008" has been completed, and we can proudly announce that the winner is The Old Deanery Hotel and Restaurant in Ripon, on Minster Road.
Over the past year there has been an influx of even more quality restaurants establishing themselves here in Ripon, which made our decision terribly hard, but there could only be one winner. The judging process rated the restaurants in terms of not only the quality of the food, but importantly the service and value for money.
Our winner, The Old Deanery covered all of these sections outstandingly. From the moment you walk in you are welcomed by the friendly staff. The building itself is amazing, and it has been sympathetically restored so that the interior compliments this historic building perfectly. There is a superb garden where, in the summer, you can sit and have a drink before you head to your table for some truly spectacular food.
A common misconception for many local people is that The Old Deanery is an expensive place to eat. This is not true, with the Dinner Menu offering 2 course meals at £24.50 and 3 courses for £28.50 it’s great value for money. The kitchen, led by experienced head chef Barrie Higginbotham has received an AA Rosette for excellence, and the restaurant has obtained entry to the Good Food Guide every year since 2005 and the Michelin Guide since 2007. Linda Whitehouse, the new owner, and David Suthill, the restaurant manager, are front of house to provide excellent levels of service while you enjoy your meal.
Great surroundings and exquisite food and service; we highly recommend The Old Deanery to anyone who hasn’t experienced it before, and once you have been you will keep going back for more. The restaurant is open all year round, and open to non-residents.
